Mission Statement

United Methodist Foundation, Inc. was established in 1955 by the North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church:

  • To provide a management-investment partnership for long-term and permanent funds of the North Carolina Conference and of local churches, institutions, and ministries of the Church.
  • To encourage and receive planned gifts in support of local churches, institutions, and special ministries of the United Methodist Church and to assist donors in placing their gifts.

Who We Serve

Any local church, institution, or agency of the North Carolina Conference may participate in the professional management-investment partnership of the Foundation. While accounted for separately, each investment purchases a specified number of units in the Foundation partnership and participates on a pro rata basis in earned income and capital appreciation/depreciation. All investments are under the active supervision of the Foundation’s Board of Directors and benefit from professional investment counsel and services which it employs.

Persons who desire to benefit their local church, or one of the institutions or special ministries of the Church, may receive professional assistance from the Foundation. Assistance is also available to persons as they consider their will and other estate planning matters. These services are provided without cost to the prospect or donor.

About The Stewardship Ministry of United Methodist Foundation, Inc.

The Reverend Charles S. Hubbard wrote the following message for the 1961 spring issue of The Methodist Foundation News, a newsletter published by Methodist Foundation, Inc., (now titled Legacies). We appreciate his strong words of confident support given on behalf of United Methodist Foundation then and feel they are just as truly appropriate today.

Motivation and attitude make all the difference in the world. Suppose the great passage in John read: “God, being a responsible deity, felt obligated to send His Son”? We can only thank God that the Master felt and spoke as he did “For God so loved the world that he gave . . ..”! Christ responded to sinful man with love, and the result is salvation and fellowship.

So it is with us and our stewardship. We can believe that stewardship is our demanded responsibility, or we can joyfully accept stewardship as our greatest
opportunity to express love toward God. In my heart, I know we will find true happiness when we follow this latter course.

If you agree that God wants us to assist in building His Kingdom on earth and, if you agree that the causes of the Methodist Church are a part of His Kingdom, then I know you will join me in the abiding faith that through Methodist Foundation you and I can express a love that transcends any human concept of duty and
obligation. Here we can find an opportunity that has no limit.
